You You deserve a mini-vacation….take a nap!
A 9-minute nap/savasana helps relieve mild depression, anxiety, high blood pressure, headaches, fatigue, and insomnia. As we age our quality of sleep can change. On average, at about the age of 60, we sleep about 2 hours less per night than we did as younger adults. Regardless of age, we typically need 7.5 to 8 hours of sleep for optimal health/function.
While a nap does not necessarily make up for inadequate or poor-quality sleep, studies show that a daytime nap/savasana helps improve mood, alertness and performance. Savasana calms the nervous system and promotes equanimity in the entire body. Muscles relax, tense shoulders and jaws soften, the eyes quiet down reflecting a quieter state of mind.
