Pitta Balancing Diet:

  • Dairy – Milk (Limit Sour Fermented Dairy IE: Yogurt, Sour Cream, Cheese)

  • Olive Oil, Sunflower Oil, Coconut Oil

  • Sweet Fruits like Grapes, Melons, Cherries, Coconuts, Avocados, Mangoes, Pomegranates, Ripe Pineapples, Oranges, and Plums (Limit Sour Fruits like Grapes, Apricots, Berries)

  • Asparagus, Cucumbers, Potatoes, Sweet Potatoes, Green Leafy Veggies, Pumpkins, Broccoli, Cauliflower, Celery Okra, Lettuce, Green Beans, & Zucchini (Limit Tomatoes, Hot Peppers, Carrots, Beets, Eggplant, Onions, Garlic, Radishes, and Spinach)

  • Cooling Spices – Coriander, Cilantro, Cardamom, Saffron, & Fennel

  • Beef, Seafood & Eggs increase pitta and should be limited

Pitta Balancing Exercise:
Regularly spend time in nature. Walks in the woods and around natural bodies of water.


Yoga practice should be moderate paced.  Hold asanas less time (holding the asana creates heat).  Open poses that release heat are best for Pitta.
