Yoga for Pain Relief

The Arthritis Foundation published an article entitled, Yoga Benefits for Arthritis that states: “Recent scientific studies of people with various types of arthritis show that regular yoga practice can help reduce joint pain, improve joint flexibility and function and lower stress and tension to promote better sleep.”

Yoga can also help people with arthritis, low back pain, fibromyalgia, migraine, along with many other types of chronic pain conditions.

The key to yoga is that yoga is not just exercise. Yoga brings you into the present. Yoga uses breath to help you release tension when you are moving or holding a posture. Yoga is mindful and yoga is meditative.

YOGA FOR PAIN RELIEF is based on Yoga's Pawanmuktasana Series, this very gentle joint releasing class is done completely on the mat (no standing postures), mostly lying with some sitting.  We focus on breath as we gently release stress and create more flexibility through slow, controlled movements of joints throughout the body.

Class meets Tuesday Mornings from 10 to 11:15
