Many people think meditation means sitting down and doing nothing. This is not true. Meditation is an active training of the mind to increase awareness.
Meditation increases cortical thickness in the hippocampus (area that governs learning and memory).
Meditation decreases cell volume in the amygdala (responsible for fear, anxiety, and stress).
Meditation protects the brain by increasing protective tissues.
Meditation can help Seniors feel less isolated and lonely (2 feelings which can increase the risk of developing Alzheimer’s.)
Meditation reduces the stress hormone cortisol, which has been known to increase the risk of developing dementia.
You are invited to join our 6-week Meditation for Memory Series. During this series, you will learn easy to practice breathing techniques to calm the mind, a simple yogic meditation called Kirtan Kriya (recommended by Alzheimer’s Research & Prevention Foundation) and enjoy a 30 to 35 minute guided iRest® Yoga Nidra Meditation to improve memory. In addition, you will receive access to a recorded iRest® Yoga Nidra Meditation to practice at home.
